Objectives
Han-characters shared in a variety of forms among a number of Asian languages constitute a unique linguistic phenomenon. Hanja is taught in Korea, kanji in Japan, Chinese in Mainland China and Singapore learn simplified hanzi while Chinese in Taiwan and Hong Kong learn their traditional variants. This Conference aims to bring together scholars, researchers, and practitioners from different Asian countries to foster international knowledge exchange and research collaboration on Han-characters education and research. Building upon accomplishments and successes of the eleven conferences, the tenth one will be held in Poznań, Poland, in 2~5, February 2023.

- Han-character education: including theoretical frameworks, teaching and learning materials, pedagogical strategies, information technology in Han character education; classical or literary Chinese among
- Research on Han-characters: including history, philology, theoretical studies, annotation, graphemic analysis,
- Classical Chinese education: including Classical Chinese educational theory, teaching materials, pedagogy, assessments etc.
- Other related areas: research on Chinese language teaching and Chinese

Remarks:
- Participants who wish to join the post-conference sight-seeing tour on Feb 5, please indicate your participation in advance when you register The organizers will include the date of the tour accordingly in your invitation letter.
- As there is a limitation on the number of participants for post-conference sight-seeing tour, the organizer has a final decision on this arrangement.
Important Dates
- 30 Sep 2022: Abstract submission deadline
Abstracts (including title and keywords) should be written in English or Chinese within 600 – 800 words. If it is written in other language(s), please also submit a version in English or Chinese.
The abstract should summarize the purpose of the study, methods, major findings with evidence/examples.
Please submit the abstract through our online system for review by the submission deadline.

- 31 Oct 2022: Email and conference website notification of abstract acceptance
The review result of abstract proposals will be notified the participants via email and announced on conference website.
- 30 Nov 2022: Online registration deadline
- 10 Jan 2023: Full paper submission deadline (optional)
*Accepted presenters may submit full papers via online system by 10 Jan 2023 and they will be included in the Conference Proceedings. Please observe the Full Paper Submission Guideline to prepare your paper. Please note that the submission of full paper is not a mandatory requirement. The paper should be your original work, except where due acknowledgement is made, that has not been previously published.
* The organizer will have a final notice on 30 November 2022 to confirm whether the conference will be required to convert from ‘face-to-face’ to hybrid mode (‘face-to-face’ and online) subject to the latest situation of COVID-19 and related measures.
*The abstract will be published in CNKI(中國知網). Presenters who don’t want to publish should indicate on your online registration form.
Procedure of Abstract Submission
- Abstract proposal should be submitted via online system in Conference website for review before 31 Sep 2022.
- Conference Organizing Committee will notify about the review result via post at conference homepage by 31 Oct 2022. Invitation letters will be sent out to accepted presenters thereafter.
- Accepted presenters may submit full papers via online system by 10 Jan 2023 and they will be included in the Conference Proceedings. Format of Presentation
- Oral Presentation (40 minutes each)
- Poster Presentation (10 minutes each)
- Postgraduate Student Forum (40 minutes each)
* According to the review result, the conference organizing committee will allocate the accepted abstract proposals to either oral presentation, poster presentation or presentation at postgraduate student forum as if appropriate.
Presentation Languages
- Presentations will be conducted mainly in either Chinese (Mandarin) or English. (Please note that the Conference Organizer will not provide interpretation Presenters may arrange their interpreters on their own if so wish. The whole presentation, including interpretation, if any, should be finished within the time limit.)
- For those presentations conducted in English/Korean/Japanese/Vietnamese, his/her ppt should be supplemented by Chinese for reference. For those presentations conducted in Chinese, his/her ppt should be supplemented by English for reference.
